The same weekend as the Oilmen’s in Slave Lake, Kinuso held a men’s bonspiel, March 6 and 7.
“The men really enjoyed having the Sunday off,” says organizer Roberta Hunt.
Eleven teams competed, which Hunt was pleased with considering the bonspiel was up against the Oilmen’s.
Frosthill Rink won the A event. The team consists of Wren Sloan, Quentin Sloan, Lee Hunt, and Devon Saitz.
CM Forestry placed second.
In the B event final, the Ken McLaughlin Rink beat the Leon Chalifoux Rink. Ken McLaughlin, Austin McLaughlin, Landon Dow, and Damien McLaughlin are on the winning team.
Another Leon, Leon Giroux, skipped the winning rink for the C event. This team consists of Giroux, Lenny Fillion, Ralph Davis, and Russel Collins.
The oldest curler in the Kinuso curling club, Dickie Davis, skipped the runner-up for the C event.
It was a pay as you win bonspiel, so every time a team won a game they won money.
The entertainment at the banquet was a local band, The Drivers.
The Kinuso Curling Club’s last bonspiel of the season is ‘The Loggers’ on April 2 to 5. Participants need a current, family or historic connection with the logging industry.
