Fun activities happening at downtown Slave Lake hot spot

Lots of fun things are happening at Byte Hub in Slave Lake. Owner Abby Quimson tells us the most recent jigsaw-making competition was successful, with a good turnout.

The winning team was called ‘The Puzzled Ladies,’ and consisted of Jillian, Johanna, Mercedes and Pam.
Another notable event Quimson mentioned was a murder mystery party, held back in October, called Murder at Gatsby Gala.

“We turned Byte Hub into a speakeasy,” she says, “and everyone dressed up as their characters.”

Coming up next at Byte Hub is the Hearts and Handmade Market, on Feb. 10, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Quimson says visitors can expect to see local vendors with ‘handcrafted delights,’ and ‘unique artisanal gifts,’ not to mention ‘sweet treats and goodies.’

On top of all that, Byte Hub is on the official Frost Fest schedule. For details on that, see the Frost Frest preview story on Page 7.

Byte Hub also sponsors one of the teams playing in the local adult basketball league, which plays its games on Sundays at St. Mary of the Lake School.
