Good start to the concert season for Stage North

Around 160 people turned out to the opening show of the new Stage North concert series at the Legacy Centre in Slave Lake on Oct. 13 to hear the trio called ‘Port Cities.’ Slave Lake’s own Stacy Stiles opened the show and also made a good impression. More of the audience members than usual were young people, reports Nicola Ramsey of Stage North. “The tune ‘Astronaut’ was a big favourite,” she says. Port Cities kicked things off with a short a capella piece that certainly raised a few eyebrows.
Next up in the series is Canadian blues legend Jim Byrnes, who is going to have his work cut out for him topping his opener, Charlie A’Court. A’Court pretty much knocked the socks off an audience in Slave Lake last year with his raging electric blues.

Port Cites (l. to r.) Carleton Stone, Breagh MacKinnon and Dylan Guthro.
