Honoured by the senate

Leo Tanghe of Canyon Creek was recognized for his work as a Cree traditional healer in November by the Senate of Canada. Alberta Senator Betty Unger was the one who made the presentation – by mail in Tanghe’s case, because he couldn’t attend the Nov. 14 ceremony in Edmonton. In her letter that accompanied the Senate of Canada’s 150th Commemorative Medal, Unger cited Tanghe’s, “many years of selfless service, helping others find healing through natural medicine.” Tanghe was one of 1,500 Canadians to receive the medal last year.
