Inflexibility doesn’t work very well in the real world

We like to give the benefit of the doubt. That goes for our news coverage of just about everything, as well as the editorial opinions in this space.

Why? Because there are always at least two ways of looking at any topic, and more often than not there are valid points to be made on all sides. Taking a hard position on one side or the other of a debate doesn’t make sense to us in most cases.

The balanced approached is the one that works best, most of the time. Or if not ‘best’, then at least the best we can hope for, in a world of competing interests and opposing ideas about how things should be done.

You have to compromise. On the other hand, you need to know when to stick to your guns. Nobody said it was going to be easy.
