One of Kinuso’s popular community fundraisers is set to return this September, with the Kinuso Firemen’s Steak and Lobster Dinner and Dance planned for Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Kinuso Ag Hall.
The event is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., carrying the evening into the early hours of Sept. 21. Dinner is expected to begin at 7 p.m., followed by a dance featuring DJ WILL-NYE.
The annual event features fresh lobster flown in from the East Coast the morning of the event, steak prepared by members of the local fire department and “all of the fixings.”
Draft beer and wine are also expected to be available.
Tickets are $75 per person, with only 280 tickets available. A pre-sale is scheduled for Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Kinuso Fire Hall.
The night also includes 50/50 draws and door prizes. Organizers are encouraging people who plan to attend to make safe transportation arrangements.
The dinner has become a familiar fundraiser for the Kinuso and District Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters handle the cooking and set-up, making it a major undertaking for the department and a large social night for the community.
In 2019, the department postponed the fundraiser from May to September because many of its firefighters were away helping fight wildfires in High Level and Wabasca. The rescheduled dinner drew 280 people and raised an estimated $10,000 to $12,000 after expenses.
The upcoming event continues that tradition of combining food, dancing and community support for the local fire department. With a limited number of tickets available, organizers are encouraging people to attend the pre-sale if they want to secure a spot.
