LaFrance wins ‘Game Changer’

Dave LaFrance of Slave Lake is the 2020 winner of the Terry Beauchamp Game Changer award. It’s handed out annually by the Beauchamp family, in memory of the late Terry Beauchamp, who was a game changer himself when it came to supporting sports in the community. According to Calvin Beauchamp, who presented the award at Dave’s doorstep last week, LaFrance received several nominations. Among other things, he was cited for his long-time involvement in the girls’ hockey program in Slave Lake, being well respected by players, parents and coaches in his years as a coach in minor hockey and minor baseball, having a lot to do with kick-starting goalie clinics and being a big help “for many new or old coaches.”

Beauchamp says there were many deserving nominees this year.

“We appreciate everyone’s submission and it was hard to choose just one.”
Last year’s winner was Russell Baxter.
