SL health care workers top notch
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter, one, because I can, and secondly to show appreciation for the care and dedication to their profession shown by the health care workers in our community.
On Friday morning, August 7, I suffered a heart attack and Karen my wife rushed me to the hospital to emergency.
A nurse ran out with a wheel chair and got me into a treatment room and started treatment immediatly. For the next hour or so, they aided my survival in every way. The nurses, doctors, lab workers, all worked feverishly and by 11 a.m. had me stabilized and on an airplane on the way to the University hospital. The paramedics continued the care until they had me at the cardiac ward at the University Hospital and in ICU.
The care continued for the next four days until I was discharged for a new beginning, which is up to me to make it work. It is almost unbelievable what they can do for our health.
I thank all the local nurses, doctors, paramedics and staff for the dedication to their professions, so folks like me can continue to enjoy living.
My mother’s words come back to me as she used to say, “Don’t complain about what you don’t have, but be grateful for what you have.” Those words have never been truer than what I feel today.
So, I would like to express my thanks to the hospital and health care folks for their dedication and for the pride they take in their work. They should be very proud of themselves for their service to our community and our community should be proud of them.
