The Athabasca RCMP charged a man with two attempted murders on Bigstone Cree Nation.
A Dec. 4, 2020 RCMP news release gave the following information:
On Nov. 29, 2020 at around 4:30 a.m., the Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Bigstone Cree Nation. When police arrived, they found a woman with serious but not life-threatening injuries. She was taken to hospital. Upon investigating, police learned that the night before, the accused man was alleged to have gone to a different residence. He had a physical confrontation with two separate adult victims. The victims were not seriously injured.
Police found the accused at a residence in the early morning and arrested him without incident. The accused is 27 and lives at no fixed address. He is charged with 12 offences, including: attempted murder (two), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two), assault, uttering threats, and mischief (two).
The 27-year-old was remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Athabasca Provincial Court on Dec. 14, 2020.
