Today, in a COVID-19 update, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that Stage One of Alberta’s economic relaunch would start tomorrow. This means that non-essential retail, some sit-down restaurants, barbers, and some other businesses can open. This applies to all of the province except Calgary and Brooks which have three-quarters of Alberta’s COVID-19 cases.
In Slave Lake, some businesses are opening up tomorrow; others are continuing the way they have been, and some are waiting to reopen. See next week’s Leader for details.
In the North Zone, the last new COVID-19 case was confirmed on May 10. Slave Lake remains at five cases – all recovered.
The North Zone has 227 cases – 26 active (including five in hospital), 186 recovered, and 15 people have died.
