May 6 COVID update: sixth Slave Lake case

On May 6, there is a new case in the M.D. of Lesser Slave River, which includes the Town of Slave Lake. With this case, Slave Lake area has six cases, of which only this new one is active. The most recent recovery was on Monday, May 5. The other four cases recovered in early April.

North Zone

The Slave Lake area case is one of eight new North Zone cases since Monday, May 6. There are 229 cases of COVID-19 in the North Zone.

Only one of the other new cases is near Slave Lake. This new case is in Big Lakes County, which now has 38 cases. Of which 11 are active, 24 have recovered, and three have died.

To the north, there are five new cases in MacKenzie County, which includes High Level. These new cases bring the total for that area to 30 cases.

The other new case is to the southwest in Lac S. Anne County, which includes Mayerthorpe.

The number of deaths in the North Zone remains at 15.


On May 6, there are 70 new cases in Alberta, which brings the total to 5,963. Over half of these (3,552) people have recovered.

Across Alberta, 112 people have died.
