Minor baseball going ahead

The word on the minor sports scene this week is baseball is going ahead, but soccer is not.

On the baseball side of things, we heard from 13U coach Kevin Campbell that league play is expected to commence June 19. The Heat host High Prairie, Grande Prairie and Whitecourt on that weekend. Practices at Sinclair Fields began on June 1.

Campbell further informs The Leader that house league activity also started the 19th, and will run until July 22. It consists of two t-ball teams, three Junior Rookie teams, two 11U teams and one 13U teams.

In addition to that are two ‘provincial’ teams, the 13U (as mentioned) and 11U. The 11U start play in July.

“Numbers are a bit down,” says Campbell, “but that was expected with the three-week shutdown just prior to our original start up.”

Here’s how it’s done…
