The U18 Thunder started its regular season with a 7 – 3 loss to Redwater on Nov 12 in Redwater. This was the same team the Thunder had beaten 7 – 5 in the pre-season, but the story was different this time.
The Thunder had the edge in shots on goal, but a bad third period did them in. The score was 2 – 2 after two periods, with Drayder Pearson and Blake Bellerose getting the Slave Lake goals. Pearson scored another in the third, in the midst of five Redwater goals. Grady Beauchamp saw 32 shots in the Slave Lake net.
The Thunder are in Fort McMurray for a pair of games this weekend.
U15
The U15 Thunder #1 beat Hinton on Saturday and lost to Drayton Valley on Sunday. Saturday’s game was 7 – 4, with Chase Mountain, Chase Blanchette and Colby Churchill each scoring twice. Dane Dierker scored the other goal.
Dayton Seppola made 34 stops in the Slave Lake net for the victory.
Sunday’s game against a very strong Drayton team ended 10 – 1 for the visitors, with Churchill getting the only Slave Lake goal.
Slave Lake’s U15 #2 team lost 5 – 0 to Barrhead on Saturday, and 11 – 2 to Drayton Valley on Sunday.
Oliver Fors, the Slave Lake goalie, saw 55 shots in Saturday’s game.
U13
On Sunday, the U13 #1 Thunder beat Barrhead 4 – 2. All four goals came in the second period, from Kade Morrison-Cardinal, Addison Cunningham, Dominic Baxter and Wyatt Wentworth. Noah Eben got the win in net.
TheU13 #2 team beat the Pembina Pirates 8 – 3 on Saturday and lost 2 – 1 to Whitecourt on Sunday.
Asher Wirstiuk and Sonder Davis each scored twice for the Thunder in Saturday’s game. Scoring singles were Viktor Doetzel, Parker Green, Harlow Lukan-Kubel and Kyle Labby. Zachary Gallant made 22 saves for the win.
In Sunday’s game, Doetzel scored the only Slave Lake goal. Gallant was good in net, but the Whitecourt goalie was better, making 42 saves.
On Saturday, the Thunder host Athabasca, at 2:45 p.m.
U11
The U11 #1 Thunder beat Barrhead 14 – 11 on Sunday in Barrhead. Leading the way in the Slave Lake goal outburst was Jacob Pelley, with five. Justice Oar-Noskiye scored a hat trick, with Cole Stone and Chase Ching getting two apiece. Max Pothier and Brayden Sinclair also scored.
Hunter Herbert was solid in net, stopping 23 shots.
The U11 #2 Thunder beat Pembina 4 – 3 on Saturday and Whitecourt 7 – 6 on Sunday. Jayden Dick, William Sarrasin and Arianna Price scored the Slave Lake goals in Saturday’s game.
On Sunday, Dick and Everett Lafleur each scored twice. Also scoring were Price, Karter Seppola and Sarrasin. Dylan Johnson got the win in net.
Wrapping things up, the U11 #3 team beat Whitecourt 12 – 3 on Saturday. Jaxon Colbourne scored five for the Thunder. Syed Shah, Logan Persson and Aubrina Twin each scored twice. Hilary Pretty also scored.
Jaxon Twin got the win in net for the Thunder, making nine saves.
The Thunder play two games on the road this weekend.
