Details were sketchy, but something happened on Sunday or early Monday morning (June 12) that damaged the track on the east edge of Slave Lake. Repairs were in full swing when The Leader passed by. According to Kate Fenske of CN Rail, “one wheel of a car came off the track,” and damage was minor. The car was carrying grain. Crews worked through the night and the track was re-opened by 8:30 a.m., Fenske says.
