Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre held a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Walk on May 5. It began at the Town of Slave Lake office court yard with prayers, speeches and drumming. Reese Anderson (left) and Sky Young took part in the event. The red hand on Young’s mouth symbolizes all the missing Indigenous women whose voices are not heard.

Participants walked to the Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre. Many participants were holding signs with messages about the missing or murdered Indigenous women. At the end of the walk, everyone got to enjoy stew and bannock at the Friendship Centre.
