New face at Century 21

He’s not new in town, but Chris Sundberg is the new guy at Century 21 Northern Realty in Slave Lake.
“I’m brand new,” he says. “I started April 1.”

Sundberg joins owner Jim Sparks and fellow associate Harold Norberg at the firm, which is located in the Plaza 2000 on 2nd Ave. NW in Slave Lake. Times are pretty good in real estate, as mentioned in an article we did a few weeks ago. So it appears Sundberg has chosen a good time to get into it.

“It’s looking good,” he says. “It’s a really good fit.”

Born and raised in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Sundberg has been in Slave Lake for a decade or so. He came to town to work for Baker Hughes’ tool division in an oilfield job. When the company downsized in the area, Sundberg decided to stick around.

“I took a year off,” he says.
One reason was he was a new father, his son having just been born. Besides being a dad, he used the time off to brush up his digital marketing skills. He also started his own consulting company.

Next, Sundberg turned those skills into a job with Stingray, as the account manager for the local radio station Lake FM (or ‘Boom!’), plus its sister station in High Prairie. That gig lasted a couple of years.

Sundberg says he has been interested in real estate for quite some time, and “I wasn’t getting any younger.” His parents owned a publishing company (based in Saskatoon), he says, and did a lot of work for brokerages all over Western Canada. That familiarity, plus knowing Sparks here in town, led him to the decision to give it a try.

Outside of work and family, Sundberg says he’s an avid golfer, also keen on hunting and fishing – “outdoor stuff,” as he calls it.

Sundberg can be reached by phone at 780-231-5566.
