Northern Lakes College announced the appointment of a new vice-president of academics. His name is Dr. Faisal Arain.
According to a Dec. 15 release sent out by the college, Arain is “an experienced academic leader with an earned PhD and a postgraduate certificate in Leadership Development. He has extensive experience in management and leadership in both construction and academia in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Canada.”
Most recently, Dr. Arain served as senior dean at Niagara College’s Kingdom of Saudi Arabia campuses, says the NLC news release. Before that, he led the development of Canada’s first Bachelor of Science in Construction Project Management at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Arain has served as Chair at SAIT, and as associate dean of the School of Sustainable Building and Environmental Management at NAIT.
“I believe Faisal will be a great addition to our college,” says NLC President Glenn Mitchell. “He has the vision and experience to lead the learner services and student services departments. I welcome him and his family to the Northern Lakes College family.”
The release goes on to say Dr. Arain has over 120 research publications to his credit, as well as 13 books. He also serves on editorial boards of several international research journals, is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Construction Project Management, and is a member of the World Association for Sustainable Development.
Dr. Arain is expected to take up his new post in January.
