Day 2 of the annual Oilmen’s Golf Tournament at Gilwood looked like this, giving no hint of how horrible it was on Day 1, with high wind and heavy rain on and off. Not to mention cold. But most of the 29 teams and 116 golfers toughed it out and lots of fun was had. Not to mention money being raised for a good cause. Teeing off on Hole #6 above is Doug Kubel, with quite an audience and with the added pressure of a free car on the line if he makes a hole in one. Winning the Championship Flight was a team called Three Guys and an Indian, ahead of the Doug Albers team. B Flight winner was the Doug Pizycki foursome. Jason Anderson and the Str8 Shooters won the C, and donated their prize to the Slave Lake Petroleum Association. Shaun Kubel and Kube’s Kids won the D Flight. SLPA President Trevor Vance says a big thank you to the sponsors is due (and will appear in an ad in an upcoming edition).
