Over 1,000 students participated in the Northern Lakes College (NLC) convocation ceremony on June 6, but not all were at the ceremony. It was held at the Slave Lake Multi Rec Centre.

According to a news release from the college, this was the largest graduating class in NLC history. It is a nine per cent increase over last year.

At the end of convocation, NLC President Dr. Glenn Mitchell congratulated the grads, recognizing them for their achievement. In his speech, he talked about the world being in front of them (grads) and the need for “your voice and curiosity.

“Keep doing those things that will move you forward,” Mitchell said.

“And, for those of you listening to me, wishing you were sitting in these graduates’ chairs today…. what’s stopping you? You can do it.”

Various dignitaries on stage at the NLC convocation, applauding the graduates.
It’s a celebration! After the ceremony was all done, confetti was shot out. There was no grad hat toss. Here are some students throwing their hands up and cheering.
