Taryn Wellsman will be the new vice principal at St Theresa School in Wabasca starting this school year. The announcement was made by a Northlands School Division news release. She began her studies at MacEwan University in Edmonton before transferring to the University of Alberta. She graduated with a bachelor of education.

“I’m so excited at the chance to have this opportunity,” said Wellsman in the release.

“To train as an administrator under Shelley (Wellsman) and support her in continuing to offer amazing educational experiences for our students. I look forward to growing my career and life here with the amazing staff, students, and families of St. Theresa School.”

Wellsman first started her teaching career Grade 9 to 12 in Wainwright, says the release. After this, she taught Grades 7 and 9 with the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC). Wellsman took a break from teaching and decided to gain more knowledge in an administrative role with a corporate company. The news release did not specify which company.

She returned to teaching a Grades 1 and 2 class at Father R. Perin School in Janvier. In 2019, Wellsman joined the staff at St Theresa School.

“Taryn understands the context and the overarching goals at Northland School Division,” said Cal Johnson, Superintendent of Northland School Division.

“I am confident she is ready for this important leadership opportunity. Taryn will provide excellent support to Shelley and strong leadership at St. Theresa School.”
