Numbers good in junior curling

Slave Lake Jr. Rocks is having a record year for enrollment. The club has split up the curlers by age and have Grade 4 to 6 curling on Tuesday afternoons right after school until 5:30 p.m. These wonderful curlers are fortunate to have three amazing coaches, Carol-Ann Porterfield, Darcy Hoover, and Greg Malcolm. Without these dedicated coaches we would be lost.

Tuesday evening curling begins at 6:30 p.m. and is for Grades 7-12. Ryan Norman has taken over the planning of this group.

He has the help of many coaches – Carl McRee, Andy Poggenpohl, and Kevin Albrecht.

Along with these coaches we have many volunteers that help out.

This year we have approximately 40 kids in the afternoon group and 35 in the evening group.

There will be a Junior Curling Bonspiel taking place on March 15 to 17. This bonspiel is open to everyone.

More specifics will be determined regarding the bonspiel soon.
