Obituary – Roy, Bob

Born: August 02, 1944
Passed: November 11, 2013
Born in Smith, AB , August 2, 1944, died on November 11, 2013 in a Vernon, BC hospice. He had cancer which consumed his body. He was always a cowboy, poet and photographer. He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Margaret, also his older brother, Kenny. There are 3
brothers and one sister remaining. He had been married, had 5 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He lived with Marie in Enderby, BC for a very short time, about 2 ½ years. He has been cremated and his ashes will be taken to Smoky Creek, AB for burial in the spring. He always said Smith, AB was his home. If anyone asked him where he was from he always replied Smith, AB. As Bob wrote in his book, “Our birth date is our first mark on time. The date of our death determines the length of our lifetime.” He always wanted to go down east to see the Maritimes. Well Bob and I went there in May of this year. He took many pictures, I think about 1,000. A very quiet man, always trying to help others if he could. He wrote Empty Corrals Tonight, published in 2012.
