The provincial government is looking for 80 Albertans to be on either the Parent Advisory Council or Teacher Advisory Council, says a July 9 government of Alberta news release. The application is open until August 31.
The councils are collaborative with the goal of providing feedback on key priorities to the Minister of Education, says the news release. The advisory council model proposed for parents and teachers is based upon the successful Minister’s Youth Council, made up of Alberta junior and senior high students.
The application is available at – parents https://extranet.gov.ab.ca/opinio6/s?s=53708 and teachers https://extranet.gov.ab.ca/opinio6/s?s=53715. For more information, contact Sean Carter, 780-643-9401 or [email protected]
The councils will consist of approximately 40 members each.
Council members will serve a 10-month term, aligned with the school year.
Members will attend up to four meetings with the minister per term.
