Pee wees going well in provinical play

Slave Lake’s Pee Wee 1 Thunder made it to the second round of provincial play after getting by Peace River in the first round. Although they lost 6 – 5 in Peace River on Feb. 15, the Thunder ended up winning by four goals, thanks to a big win in the first game in Slave Lake.

Kaleb Vanhoek came up big in Peace River, scoring twice. Other Slave Lake goal-scorers were Kolby Courtorielle, Cole de Champlain and Tanner Churchill. Getting assists were Cohen Foster with two, Kolby Courtorielle, Reed Churchill, Vanhoek and de Champlain. Damien Vyse played the game in net for the Thunder.

Then on Feb. 23, the team hosted Sexsmith in the second round of provincial play, winning 3 – 2. The second game was scheduled for Sexsmith on Tuesday of this week. Tanner Churchill scored all three of the goals for the Thunder in the Feb. 23 victory. Vyse saw 20 shots in the Slave Lake net. Picking up assists were Herman Derksen, Reed Churchill, Cohen Foster and Kristopher Courtorielle.
