The Town of Slave Lake’s first attempt at holding a pickleball tournament was a moderate success, with eight teams in three divisions participating. Two of them in the Men’s Division were the duos of Tyler Warman and Terry Tonsi (left) and the sibling team of Gordie and Brice Ferguson. The Fergusons finished second, losing out to Dwain Hill and Robb David. Winning the Women’s Division were Adriene and Audrey Shapka. Mixed Division winners were Marcelo Caceres Aparicio and Tiffany Atkins. The tournament was held in the second arena, repurposed for the past couple of months as the ‘Raquet Centre.’ It’s now being turned back into an ice rink, and pickleball will return to the field house.
