Plug pulled on Anglers Cup

Low water, difficult lake access blamed

The Canadian Tire Anglers Cup won’t be going ahead this year. As of early last week it was, but on Thursday night organizers pulled the plug, citing low water levels and the difficulty in getting into and out of the lake.

Here’s some of what appears on the tournament’s website:

“We are extremely disappointed that we need to cancel for this year. The spring rain has brought up lake levels, however not enough to proceed.

“Entries will be returned to anglers ASAP. Sponsors will be contacted as well. Feel free to email us if you have any questions or concerns.

“We hope to see everyone back for 2025.”

The format had been adjusted to reduce boat traffic in the river channel, but it wasn’t enough to save the event.
