Police are looking for information in the murder of a 25-year-old woman near Smith on April 29. Chantelle Hole was found dead in the rural residence on that day. An autopsy on May 2 in Edmonton confirmed that it was a homicide.
Slave Lake RCMP responded to the incident, but the investigation was quickly taken over by the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU), assisted by the Forensic Identification Section.
“Investigators do not believe that this was a random incident,” says the May 2 release, “and are interested in speaking with anyone who may have observed any unusual activity in or around Smith, Alberta on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Anyone who may have information about this matter is asked to call the Slave Lake RCMP Detachment at 780-849-3045.”
The release contains no indication of who police think may have been responsible for the murder of Ms. Hole. But they likely do have their suspicions, given the names that are circulating through the grapevine.
Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous is encouraged to call the Crime Stoppers line, at 1-800-222-8477. Otherwise the Slave Lake RCMP detachment number is 780-849-3999.
