Political game-playing is annoying and it never ends. All parties are guilty of it – some perhaps more than others, though that probably ebbs and flows according to personalities and the tactics they favour or maybe what the research tells them.
The research apparently shows that ‘the people’ (that’s us) on the whole are susceptible to manipulation, and not very smart. So if you push certain buttons, over and over again, it will have a measurable result come voting day. And that is what is going on, all the time.
One can just imagine the poll trolls (otherwise known as political strategists), telling the candidates success depends entirely on stoking people’s fears and prejudices. Never mind appeals to idealism – go straight for the fears and prejudices and you’ll get results.
It would be so nice to prove these people wrong.
