The roof-replacement job at the Slave Lake Healthcare Centre is the second of two phases, costing $4.75 million. The first phase – replacing the flat section of the roof – was done last year. This year it’s the turn of the sloping metal roof sections. Construction is expected to be completed by late fall 2025, weather permitting. Funding for the project is through the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP). This investment supports the long-term integrity and sustainability of the facility, says AHS spokesperson Diana Rinne. The metal roof is nearing the end of its lifespan. Additionally, the sloped roof has ongoing issues with ice damming and drainage, which will be addressed through its replacement.
