The Town of Slave Lake’s Municipal Planning Commission dealt with a single item at its May 31 special meeting. That was an application by the new owner of an industrial property to add a ‘security suite’ on the site. According to the report from the town’s planning department, this required MPC approval.
Approval was swift. With no concerns expressed by the planning department, commission members were fully on board with the idea.
Expressing her support, town councillor Rebecca King said she expects more such applications to come in, given the amount of theft in the industrial area of town.
Agreed, said board chair Shirley Torresan-Chykerda. “It’s definitely needed.”
The applicant – a trucking company – wants to have a person living on site, in the second-floor suite.
