Leader staff
The Slave Lake Sharks really are on a roll this season. Every meet, it seems, they get better and have the medals to prove it. The Regional A Championship in Grande Prairie on July 26 was no exception, with the Sharks racking up 85 personal best times, and winning 47 medals.
The medals for individual races amounted to 26 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze. Four club members won aggregate gold for their age group – Jorgia Green, Grace Auger and Kellen Tissink.
All three of those competed at provincials in Edmonton on the August long weekend, along with 16 of their teammates (pictured below), who finished first or second in races at regionals, or in one case qualified as a wild card (Sloan Woolston).
We hope to have the results from provincials next week.
High Prairie results
A week earlier 30 members of the Sharks competed at a swim meet in High Prairie. They won three gold, three silver and two bronze aggregate medals for their efforts.
Perhaps even more significant was the 70 personal best times registered – evidence of continued improvement as the season goes on.
Gold aggregate winners in High Prairie were Jorgia Green (Girls 13 – 14), Kellen Tissink (Boys 15 – 17) and Brie Hoover (Women 18+). Winning silver aggregate were Markus Maganes (Boys 7 – 8), Grace Auger (Girls 15 – 17) and Dawson Taylor (Boys 15 – 17). Bronze medal winners were Sean Rabago (Boys 7 – 8) and Jerzie Green (Girls 15 – 17).
