Skating programs running with 72 kids registered

From three-year-olds up

Every Skate Canada skating program complements the others and allows for unrestricted movement and development through the system. All programs are taught by professional coaches certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and they are offered at the Lakeside Figure Skating Club.
Our StarSkate program began in September, with 18 skaters registered. StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Our first test day for skaters will be in December.
Our CanSkate program began in October with 46 skaters registered. Children must be aged 4 years+ to participate. CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners that teaches fundamental movements and basic skating skills. Sessions are 45 min long, twice per week.
This season we also started a Pre-CanSkate program for three year olds. There are currently eight little skaters in the group. This program focuses on the same elements as CanSkate, sessions are 30 min long, twice per week. There will be a second registration for this group. The second session will begin in January.
We will have some new programs beginning in January. The program registration dates will be advertised in the newspaper as well as our Facebook page.
Our annual Carnival (ice show) is set for March 17. More information about the show will be shared closer to the date.
