Provincial Court has imposed new restrictions from Dec. 14, 2020 to Jan. 29, 2021.
During that period, court will be held at a reduced scale in High Prairie Provincial Courthouse. This means that Slave Lake, Red Earth Creek and Desmarais (Wabasca) court will be in High Prairie.
“Wherever possible, remote appearances are to be undertaken,” says ‘Provincial Court of Alberta Response to Recent COVID-19 Restrictions Imposed by the Government of Alberta.’ “Docket courts at all court locations will be held remotely. Personal attendance will only be allowed with leave of the Court (which will be in High Prairie).” Access to the court is restricted to necessary people. This ranges from in-custody accused to litigates and witnesses to members of the media.
During this period, domestic violence trials, bail hearings, preliminary hearings and out-of-custody summary dispositions (guilty pleas) will continue. However, all trials for provincial tickets, by-law, traffic tickets, etc. will be rescheduled.
Anyone scheduled to be in Slave Lake Provincial Court during this period, should call High Prairie Provincial Court 780-523-6600.
