Slave Lake RCMP on scene of collision on Hwy. 2 – Traffic diverted

Slave Lake, Alberta

RCMP in Slave lake are currently on scene of a 2 vehicle collision, 40 km East of the town of Slave Lake on Highway 2.

Early this morning, a 2 vehicle collision occurred when a semi trailer unit was rear-ended by another semi-trailer unit travelling on Highway 2. The driver of the second semi was ejected from the vehicle and has been transported by ground ambulance to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The second semi caught fire as a result of the collision. The driver of the first semi was not hurt and neither vehicle was transporting dangerous goods.

RCMP are advising that highway 2 is currently impassable at the collision scene while crews work to clear the vehicles and debris. Motorists are asked to avoid travel in the area as the clean up efforts are expected to take several hours.

No photos of the collision are available at this time. An update will be provided when the road has been cleared.
