Slave Lake RCMP -Update 1- Search Efforts on Athabasca River

Slave Lake, Alberta – Slave Lake RCMP can now confirm details on the individual who fell from the Highway 2 bridge, approximately 50 km southeast of Slave Lake.

The youth is a 17-year old male from Slave Lake. The RCMP has notified the family of the circumstances and search efforts are continuing down stream of the bridge.

No further information is available at this time. Updates will be provided by way of a press release when more information becomes available.
Slave Lake RCMP, Slave Lake Search and Rescue and Fire Department are currently conducting a search along the Athabasca River.
At approximately 10:50 pm May 1st, Slave Lake RCMP responded to a report that a youth had fallen from the Highway 2 bridge and into the Athabasca River. Extensive search efforts were made immediately and further efforts are continuing today by RCMP, Fire and civilian search and rescue. 
No details about the identity of the individual will be provided until family has been notified. Media and citizens are asked to remain clear of the search area and obey access controls in place in the area. Further updates will be provided by way of a press release when available.
