Slave Lake’s summer swim team, the Sharks are having a pretty good season so far.
We reported on some of the results from the swim meet the club hosted on June 3.
Since then we received further information on the Sharks. For example:
Forty-five swimmers are registered this season. Thirteen are brand new swimmers and 32 are returning. Thirty-seven of the swimmers are between the ages of six and 12, five are in the 13 – 17 range, and one is a Master swimmer, meaning somewhere north of 18.
The first swim meet for the team was in Beaverlodge, on May 27, with seven Sharks taking part. Those seven set 18 personal best times. Gryffin Taylor won gold for his age group, Ellie Friesen won silver for hers and Curtis Wiebe won a bronze in his.
Taylor Friesen, Raymond Stover, Dawson Taylor and Alexis Wheeler all set personal bests.
At the Slave Lake meet, 43 club members competed. Gold medal wins in races have already been reported.
In addition to that, Jacoby Cardinal won the bronze in the 6 and Under boys age group, Dawson Taylor won gold in 7/8 boys, Gryffin Taylor won bronze in the 9/10 boys, Ethan Baril won silver for 11/12 boys and Ellie Friesen won bronze for 11/12 girls.
On June 10, nine Sharks competed at a meet in Fairview, achieving 16 personal best times.
Dawson Taylor won gold aggregate in his age group.
Kaden Becker and Summer Fry each had three personal best times. Collin Becker and Ahlora Vekved each had two PBs. Ellie Friesen, Taylor Friesen, Emerson Vekved and Gryffin Taylor each had one PB.
This past weekend, 17 Sharks were scheduled to compete at a tournament in High Level.
