Slave Lake Slowpitch League running with nine local teams

Game on

Jenna Kubel cracks one into the left side of the infield in a slowpitch league game in Slave Lake on July 6 between the Mitfitz and the BoSox. The Mitfitz won the first game and the BoSox took the second.
The Raiders and Backdoor Sliders played a double-header in Slave Lake Slowpitch League action on July 6 at the front diamond. The Raiders – thanks to sluggers like this guy named Mark – won both games.
The season started just at the beginning of the month in a different format than usual. For example, teams play each other twice on the same night. The idea is to reduce the likelihood of games not being played due to shortage of personnel. If there are enough players to get the first game in, the second game should be automatic.
