Slave Lake’s spring basketball league has completed six rounds of play (probably seven by now), and organizer Dean VanVelzer sent us the results of the Week 6 games, along with the leading scorers.

Games on June 1 were the Celtics vs. the Raptors and Lakers vs. the Bulls.

Celtics nipped the Raptors by just two points, winning 84 – 82. Niel Cruz led the Celts with 30 points; Blaise Ballister scored 20. For the Raptors, RJ Padlan had a 34-point game, with Martin Daracan contributing 17.

The other game was also a close one, with the Lakers coming out on top, 104 – 97. Evan Mellsen scored 43 for the Lakers; Wendell Tutor added 32 in the winning cause.

Santino David led the Bulls with 34; Josh Sanje scored 25.

The Lakers and Bulls were tied at the top of the four-team standings after six weeks – each with four wins and two losses for eight points. The Raptors are alone in third at 3 – 3 – 6. Celtics have one win and five losses, for two points.

Games are Sundays at 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., at the Northern Lakes College gym in Slave Lake.
