Dance Creations bagged the top spot at a recent dance competition, receiving first place for a studio in the performance division.

The Slave Lake studio competed at the Shy Ann Dance Festival from April 19 to 21 in Edmonton at Grant MacEwan Allard Hill.

It was a lot busier than the previous festival, says Sable Seppola, communications director, because the dancers did the same amount of routines, but in three days instead of five.

Some dancers were awarded most outstanding and other awards and received some scholarship.

Here are some highlights:

Madison Gramlich received the performance division junior solos runner up scholarship and performance division junior most promising dancer.

Chelsia Baxter received a $1,000 scholarship to Lightning Elite Dance Experience and performance division senior solos 15 year olds and under first place scholarship.

Dessa Saluk and Evelyn Lillo received the performance division intermediate duet/trio first place scholarship.

Sydney Emes and Kristine Dana receive the performance division senior duet/trio first place scholarship.

Sophie Pothier received two scholarships: a $500 one to the Hollywood Summer Tour and performance division senior solos 16 year olds and over runner up one.

Emery Garon and Avery Van Den Heuvel received the performance division junior duet/trio runner up scholarship.

Evelyn Lillo received the performance division intermediate solo runner up scholarship.
