Slave Lake to host a couple of regional curling qualifiers

Leader staff

Is Slave Lake becoming a curling hub? You could make the case, after Curling Alberta announced earlier this month the club in Slave Lake will host two regional qualifiers for provincial championships in the sport.

The news came via a story in ‘Everything GP’ by Curtis Galbraith. The Men’s provincial qualifier for the Peace zone will be in Slave Lake Dec. 18 – 20. Then in February, the SL Curling Club hosts the U-15 regional qualifier tournament.

Provincial championships for Men’s and Women’s are scheduled for Jan. 25 – 31, says the article, but no location has been announced.

In related news, the SL Curling Club is looking for a new head ice technician. That must mean longtime manager Leard Robertson is calling it quits.
