Slave Lake Wolves returning to NWJHL next season

The Slave Lake Wolves will return to the North West Junior Hockey League next season after more than a decade away from the league.

The Junior B team was officially accepted back into the NWJHL during the league’s annual general meeting held April 27.

League board members passed a motion approving the Wolves’ return for the upcoming season.
The Slave Lake franchise previously competed in the league before dissolving in 2014.

The returning team will be led by general manager Calvin Beauchamp and president Alex Pavcek, both from Slave Lake.

According to the organization, recruitment efforts are already underway as the team begins building its roster and coaching staff ahead of the season.
Team officials said they are currently recruiting players and conducting interviews for coaching positions.

The Wolves’ return adds another team to the NWJHL and marks the return of Junior B hockey to Slave Lake for the first time in more than 10 years.
The Leader has not yet received a response from the coaching staff but will continue to follow the story.
