Slave Lakers on High Prairie squad at U18 provincials

Slave Lake ballplayers Kyle Campbell, Jack Albrecht, Matt LaFrance and Hunter Mouallem suited up with the High Prairie Sauce in the U18 baseball provincials in Sylvan Lake on the Aug. 28 weekend. Albrecht and Campbell have been with the team the whole season; LaFrance and Mouallem joined up more recently.

As things turned out, the Sauce made it all the way to the final, losing 9 – 5 to Stettler.

According to Dave LaFrance, who made the trip to watch his son play, High Prairie went 3 – 1 in the round robin portion of the tournament, winning their first three and losing “a nothing game” Sunday morning. Wins were over Calgary, Stettler and Sylvan Lake.

“The boys played their hearts out,” he says. “All four (Slave Lakers) played a big part this weekend.”

LaFrance says High Prairie made the Slave Lake players very welcome on the team and deserve thanks for that.
