A three-year-old boy was killed in Slave Lake on May 23, when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
The incident happened in the southeast part of town, just after 7 p.m., according to an RCMP news release.
Slave Lake RCMP responded to a call that came in at 7:16 p.m. The regional fire service also attended.
“As a result of the collision, a three-year-old child, a resident of Slave Lake, was transported to the Slave Lake Healthcare center,” says the release. “Despite life saving efforts, the child succumbed to their injuries.”
The release goes on to say the preliminary investigation indicated a pickup truck travelling down the roadway collided at a low rate of speed with the pedestrian, “who appeared suddenly and unexpectedly in front of them.”
Slave Lake RCMP continue to investigate this collision and no further updates are anticipated.
