Smoky slowpitch

Blood Lines’ outfielder Cruise Cardinal puts out a Wabasca Braves batter in a semi-final game at the Slave Lake Fall Classic slowpitch tournament on Sunday, Sept. 17.
Playing in smoky conditions, 11 teams took part in the two-day competition, with the Blood Lines (from Cadotte Lake and Peace River) taking top spot in the A Division with a win over Don’s Wongs on Sunday afternoon. Winning the B Division were Athabasca’s Vicious and Delicious, over the Misfits (Slave Lake). The tournament was organized by Don Clarkson and Wayne Dastou. Clarkson says it will happen again in 2024.
