Slave Lake Adult Soccer will be hosting it’s third annual soccer tournament from January 25 to 27 at the Multi-Rec Centre Fieldhouse.

Esther Bylsma, tournament coordinator for the Slave Lake Soccer Association, says this year they are teaming up with the local Kidsport organization.

“As an adult soccer team, we want to see the children in this community enjoy all sports,” she says.

During the tournament there will also be a silent auction and all money raised from the silent auction, team fees and admission will go to into Kidsport.

“We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports,” states Bylsma.

Bylsma adds KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from being able to play an organized sport.

“We believe that through participation in organized sports activities, kids learn the values of co-operation, team play, and friendship, commitment to goals, personal excellence, healthy competition, and self-esteem.”

This year so far there are eight teams registered, four men and four women teams.

Bylsma says there is still time to register a team and fees are $400 per team.
There is no actual set of bleachers in the fieldhouse so they will be shutting down the running track and allowing people to watch the tournament from above.

The cost of admission will be free for anyone 60 and over and four and under. Admission is $5 for everyone else.
