A recently banded Philadelphia Vireo, a small olive-brown songbird, rests in the hand of Bronwyn Robinson of the Boreal Centre during a public tour at the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory on July 25. Robinson says the bird is a juvenile that has nearly reached adulthood and is likely the offspring of one of the first Philadelphia Vireos banded at the observatory earlier that day. The observatory invites visitors to learn about bird banding and migration during its free drop-in tours, held every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
