Families gathered at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy on March 4, 2017 to have some fun at the school’s fifth annual community quarter carnival.
“We started this event for two reasons: to have an annual fundraiser for our students and to have an opportunity for student participation at an annual event,” says teacher and co-ordinator Alexis Mitchell. “Every year it has been building! We get a lot of student involvement, staff involvement and even community volunteers.”
For those that aren’t aware, the carnival runs for four hours in St. Francis’ gym and along with fun games, the students run a full concession filled with carnival-type food.
“What I love most about this event is seeing our Grades 7 through 12 students stepping into leadership roles and giving their time and expertise back to the community through the services we offer that day!” says Mitchell.
