Students nominated for STEM award

Roland Michener Grade 12 student Campbell Rea is back in the news – this time for being nominated for a prestigious engineering scholarship. Rea didn’t win the $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship (it goes to 50 students across the country), but his career coach Cori Klassen says his nomination for it is still worth talking about. “He’s the top STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) student in the school,” she says. Rea was previously in The Leader for scoring 100 per cent on a provincial math exam. He points out that Rayeann Saitz of Kinuso School achieved the same score on the same test (and was also nominated for the Schulich Scholarship), and is also going into engineering at the University of Alberta.
