People wanting to get out and enjoy the fall air and raise money for a good cause will have an opportunity on September 17.
The Slave Lake Terry Fox Run is Sunday, Sept. 17 starting at Schurter Park (near the hospital). Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and the run starts at 1 p.m. People can register online at terryfox.org.
This will be the 43rd Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research.
Slave Lake has a very long history with the run.
In 2019, when long-time organizer Rhonda Willis stepped down, she told The Leader, “I’m really proud Slave Lake has been holding the run almost every year since 1981.”
In 2019, Jen Simpson and Tanya Parada organized the run. During the COVID-19 pandemic the run was virtual – i.e. run on your own, but in 2022 it returned to Slave Lake. Arlene Gramiak organized it in 2022 and again in 2023.
Terry Fox t-shirts are $25 for adult or $20 for youth.
For more information or to volunteer, call or text Gramiak at 780-849-0037.
