Texas watermelon

Every once in a while in the summer, there will be people selling out-of-province fruits and vegetables. Frank Wolf was selling his ‘Texas watermelons’ on the afternoon of June 30 at the Sawridge Truck Stop in Slave Lake. Here he is holding one of them. The one in his hand was $46. The watermelon he had for sale is directly from Texas, says Wolf. Wolf is from Taber, Alberta and has been selling melons for eight years all over northern Alberta. Some of the places include Grande Prairie, Peace River and Slave Lake. Aside from this job, he drives a semi truck for his main employment. “It’s a nice little break from driving a truck,” says Wolf.
